Waimakariri River Gorge

We stopped at Akaroa New Zealand which is the port that will take you to Christchurch.  This is the South Island of New Zealand and the countryside is beautiful but quite rugged.  The roads are steep and twisty.

 

We took a tour called Alpine 4WD and Jet Boat Adventure.  We drove out to the southern Alps and boarded a four-wheel drive vehicle for some off roading into the mountains.  After lunch we boarded a jet boat to travel through the Waimakariri River Gorge.  To quote a famous Canadian tourist (Judy) the river trip was "totally awesome!"
